In October 1974, the Mosley family took the long trip from Alabama to Covington. Accepting this call meant a major move for the pastor’s family that would take them out of Alabama. Reverend Mosley was called to pastor the First Baptist Church, Covington, Virginia, in May 1975. He received a Master of Divinity Degree from the School of Theology, Virginia Union University in May 1975. The rewards of this experience were vital to Reverend Mosley’s mission and ministry. He commuted by bus to Richmond on Mondays and left on Fridays for Alabama. In 1972, Reverend Mosley enrolled in the School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. Four years later their second child, Andrew, III was born in Dothan. In the midst of all his struggles, joy came with the birth of their first child, Angela Mattell. Because of his leadership, tenacious persistency, and court appearances, the public parks and the Boys and Girls Club in Dothan were desegregated. After many negotiations failed, Reverend Mosley appeared in court many times to challeng the “separate but equal” practices. There were many meetings with the federal authorities who tried to negotiate with local authorities on the injustices. While living in Dothan, he was afforded the opportunity to spend more time with the members of New Bethel and assisted those who challenged racial segregation. Mosley moved to Dothan, Alabama because he felt God was calling him to deal with the social ills in that area and to broaden his ministry as a pastor. Because of the social injustices in Dothan, there grew a greater demand for Reverend Mosley to become a fulltime pastor. Hudson High School in Selma during the week and commuted to Dothan on weekends to pastor. After graduating, he was called to pastor the New Bethel Baptist Church of Dothan, Alabama in 1967. Reverend Mosley completed his studies and earned a Bachelor of Theology Degree from Selma University. While pastoring at Elbethel, he met and married Gerthadine Givan. He enrolled in Selma University and became the pastor of Elbethel Baptist Church in Selma.
